Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be moving to a foreign country to live, let alone a country in the Middle East. Over the 2009 Christmas and New Year’s holidays, my husband Roger and I discussed what we wanted the next part of our life to be like. He thought that before retiring, he would like to do one more airport project but only if he could find something very interesting. I half-jokingly agreed that would be fine but could he try for an exotic location? As usual, Roger came through and soon we were headed to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This blog is a recap of our "leap-of- faith" wanderings around the Middle East and beyond. We joyfully share these expat experiences.

BloggingBoomers Carnival #220

Thanks to The Boomer Chronicles for hosting this week’s Blogging Boomers Carnival.

At SoBabyBoomer, The Love Doctor and America’s Marriage Doctor provide a couple of answers to the question, “Does an empty nest spell the end of your marriage?”

You’re invited to a party!  But you need a subway token, says Nancy at Vaboomer.com.

In his post, “How Am I Doin’?,” Tom at Sightings at 60 channels former Mayor Ed Koch in an effort to assess how far he’s come in his blogging career.

If you can’t wait to retire, you may have never given a moment’s thought to the things that could go wrong with retirement.  Ann at Contemporary Retirement has thought about it.  And she’s made a list.  Check it out now, in case you need to take evasive action.

For the past two weeks the Accidental Locavore’s farm boxes have been packed with goodies, sending her on a cooking frenzy. See what she made and get the recipes.

If you are anything like Laura Lee, the Midlife Crisis Queen, you know how challenging it can be to listen to your inner wisdom and then follow its guidance. Laura just had a recent experience with this.

Diana Nyad is 61 and recently swam 29 hours in the open ocean. The Boomer Chronicles is a fan.

Check out falcons and other desert birds of prey with Katie and Roger at Ras Al Khamiah, UAE, at Arabian Tales and Other Amazing Adventures.
